What Russell Martin just said when asked if he'll walk away from Swansea City job

Russell Martin insists he will not walk away from Swansea City amid concerns from fans following the club's frustrating January transfer window.

Supporters have displayed their anger in recent days given the club's inability to sign a single player last month, despite the fact a number of deals were in place to be ratified.

It leaves the Swans' squad in a weaker position than it was in December, even though Martin's men are just four points adrift of the Championship's play-off places at present.

Nevertheless, Martin stated that the club must learn from their mistakes in the winter window, adding that the frustration will serve as fuel for the final months of the season.

“I've never walked away from anything in my life," he said. “It’s not even crossed my mind because of the people sitting behind you (his whole backroom team) and the players, how much I love working with them and how happy our families are here.

"It’s not even a consideration but we do have to try to learn from what’s gone on and improve. I feel sorry, feeling the atmosphere around the place on Wednesday. I feel sorry for the people that work at the club, I feel sorry for the supporters and the players because we couldn’t quite get them help that they probably needed.

“They look around at all the other clubs in this position and pretty much everyone strengthened.

“Football is unpredictable, it’s different to any other environment. So I don’t feel let down by any one thing.

“As a group, I feel like we’ve missed a few opportunities we could have really taken which could have really helped us.

“I feel disappointed for everyone and I feel a bit frustrated, probably the same as everyone. But we’ve chosen to turn that into energy and fuel for the next three or four months.”
