Kris Boyd reckons Gio van Bronckhorst has learned he needs to use his full squad with a bumper week ahead for Rangers.
With the Europa League clash against RB Leipzig in mind, the Dutchman made eight changes to the starting XI against Motherwell from the side that saw off Celtic at Hampden.
Fringe stars Scott Wright were among the players to make their case for a regular spot in the side going into the run-in in Europe, the Premiership and Scottish Cup.
With a trip to Germany on Thursday ahead of Sunday's crucial derby day clash, Rangers favourite Boyd insists Van Bronckhorst has overcome one of the key criticisms of his tenure so far.
Boyd told Sky Sports News: "I think it's the old cliche in football, you need to take every game one at time. That's exactly what Rangers need.
"We saw eight changes from the semi-final victory over Celtic at the weekend, and it's international players that are coming in.
"You take John Lundstram and Ryan Jack that are coming in as the sitting midfielders as such, but Glen Kamara and Steven Davis could easily do that job.
"You are replacing quality with quality, and that was the frustration, especially from me, over a number of weeks there where Rangers were playing on Thursday and it was the same team going again at the weekend.
"Maybe you want to mix it up. I'm sure Giovanni will have learned from that as well, and it's a massive, massive week for the club, there is a no doubt about that."
