What Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said after scoring Barcelona hat-trick following Arsenal transfer

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now fully arrived at Barcelona, with the former Arsenal captain scoring a hat-trick in their 4-1 win over Valencia on Sunday.

The Gabonese striker moved from the Gunners to Barca at the start of this month after falling out with manager Mikel Arteta. Aubameyang was stripped of the club's captaincy following a disciplinary issue.

He was then allowed to move to the La Liga giants on a free transfer as Arsenal agreed to terminate the 32-year-old's contract at the club.

On his fourth appearance for Barca - in all competitions - Aubameyang scored his first, second and third goals for his new club.

After the game, the striker took to social media to express his delight with his performance and three goals.

Speaking on his Instagram story, the former Arsenal striker said: "First hat-trick and I hope many more. Let's go."

He also addressed the media after the match and spoke about his enjoyment he gets from playing in Valencia, where he referenced the hat-trick he scored for Arsenal in their Europa League victory against the Spanish side in May 2019.

He said: "The last time I played here I scored a hat-trick with Arsenal. I like playing here... Mestalla is like my home."

Arsenal tried their best to replace Aubameyang in the January transfer window, with Arteta trying to sign a new striker last month, but the Gunners were unable to land any of their targets.

Dusan Vlahovic was the club's first-choice target, but the Serbian instead completed a £66million move to Juventus from Fiorentina, leaving Arsenal frustrated after prioritising the 22-year-old striker in the window.

When the summer transfer window comes around, Arteta will have to look elsewhere. football.london understands that Alexander Isak and Jonathan David are both centre-forward options that are being looked at by the north London club.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also rumoured to be of interest to Arsenal, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both looking set to leave at the end of the season upon the expiration of their respective contracts.
