What Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has planned for Chelsea teammates as Arsenal player makes contact

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may not be a particularly popular figure at Arsenal or even with some of his former teammates, but the striker has certainly got off to a good start at Chelsea.

The Gabon forward has scored three times in five matches for his new club, all of the goals coming for new manager Graham Potter. His decisive strikes against Crystal Palace and AC Milan were also the type of goals that the Blues hadn't been scoring of late.

His clinical nature, scoring with 75 per cent of the shots he has taken so far at the club, demonstrates what still makes him an elite goalscorer in a team that has been crying out for someone to add the final touch and spark some life into an underperforming attack.

Even during his brief spell in Spain at Barcelona, Aubameyang was able to score 11 times in half of a season, that is unlikely to bother Arsenal fans that sit of the table though. The 33-year-old's next challenge will be to close the gap on his former club.

Given the controversial circumstances around his departure, which have already led to him making claims over Mikel Arteta's management ability, Aubameyang fits the squad mould at Chelsea much more than he does in a youthful team at the Emirates. Whereas he was seen as a distraction before, at Stamford Bridge he can be the difference.

Throughout his time in red, Aubameyang was able to hit off a great relationship with Alexandre Lacazette, though he too became a villain for frustrated Arsenal fans, but the friendship between the two strikers still remains to this day, and he was as shocked as everyone else when the forward was linked to Chelsea earlier this summer.

Speaking to Match Of The Day extra, he said: "Lacazette [was the first Arsenal player to message me]. He didn't say good luck! Nah, nah, nah. Before when he had just heard the rumours he was like 'nah, really?' I told him, 'I can't do anything.'"

Lacazette, who is two years younger than Aubameyang and joined one year earlier, scored 71 goals for the club but was one of the players who struggled at times during the post-Arsene Wenger years as coaches struggled to get the attackers to gel with Aubameyang.

The frustration, which led to the Frenchman leaving for free over the summer and rejoining former club Lyon, didn't affect the pair though, and Aubameyang credited Lacazette as being the first player to have a big impact on his career. "It's Lacazette [that had an influence on my career] because in bad times he helped me a lot," he admitted.

The new No.9 also hinted at a special dance that he has with his new teammates after becoming famed for his moves with Lacazette: "Don't worry, I've got a celebration planned with the Chelsea boys. You'll see, you'll see."
