What Paul Pogba did after substitution in Manchester United's FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough

Manchester United fans would have been pleased with Paul Pogba's reaction following his substitution on Friday night.

Pogba was brought off for Fred in the 82nd minute as United searched for a winner with the game level at Old Trafford.

United squandered chances aplenty against Middlesbrough and so the fourth round tie went to extra-time.

After the whistle had gone to signal the end of normal time, the changeover began for the extra 30 minutes to begin and Pogba took on a leadership role. He was seen motivating his teammates and using his experience to good effect.

Pogba returned to the United squad in the Reds' defeat to Middlesbrough for the first time since November against Atalanta.

The 28-year-old is in the final year of his contract at United and little progress has been made in talks to extend his deal. That means Pogba could leave United on a free transfer this summer, 10 years after he last left United for Juventus on a free transfer.

Pogba has struggled with injury this season and his start on Friday was just his 11th all season across all competitions.

Pogba is set to play a key role for the remainder of the campaign as United look to secure Champions League football.
