The ratings of NFL’s Pro Football Hall of Game have been announced, and they once again show the NFL’s dominance of the sports landscape.
The Hall of Fame Game that saw the Cleveland Browns defeat the New York Jets, 21-16, on August 3 averaged 6.3 million viewers, according to NBC Sports. That number is the most for the game since 2018.

DON’T MISS:
The average number of viewers for the NFL’s first preseason game of the season is also higher than many of the most prominent games of other sports leagues.
The average game during the 2023 NBA Playoffs averaged 5.47 million viewers across ABC, ESPN, and TNT. The average game during the NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals averaged significantly less viewers at just 2.6 million viewers for the five-game series.

But while the NFL has continued to dominate other leagues in viewership even for its exhibition contests, it’s important to note that the ratings for the Hall of Fame game are not where they were just a half decade ago.
The game averaged 11 million viewers in 2015, though the game aired on a Sunday night. In 2014, the game garnered an average of 8.5 million viewers.
The average regular season NFL game during the 2022-23 season was at 16.7 million viewers, a 3% decline from the previous year.
