What must be right for Kieran Tierney to make a return to Celtic

Kieran Tierney admits he'd love an emotional return to Celtic at some point in his career.

However, the Scotland international insists he would have to feel '100 percent' fit in order to re-sign at his former club.

KT's future at Arsenal will be addressed following his participation with the national team at Euro 2024.

It's become clear that Mikel Arteta wishes to move the 27-year-old on, having spent last season on loan with La Liga side Real Sociedad.

Five years ago, Tierney moved from the Scottish Premiership champions to the Emirates for a whopping £25m. Now, if reports are to be believed, the Gunners would accept £10m to sell him.

Tierney has always been open about potentially returning to Celtic at some point. Despite his current price tag, it probably does rule out a move by Brendan Rodgers at this time.

Now, speaking to The Athletic, he admits a swansong at Parkhead would only be on the cards if his body allowed him to replicate the previous success enjoyed at the club in his younger days.

He said: “I don’t regret it. I still miss it but I knew life would never be the same. I was living my dream. Being a footballer is the dream but playing for Celtic was the ultimate.

"I left that to go and challenge myself in the Premier League and come up against the best to see how I’d cope. If I go back, I want to be feeling how I did there before.

"I’ll be a different player to what I was, as I’ve been away for years, but I wouldn’t want to go back if I wasn’t feeling 100 per cent in my body. I know the intensity and the demand to win so, if I go back, it will be when I’m still feeling good.”
