Mikel Arteta has previously said that he loves his role with Arsenal amid claims of a new contract offer.
The Sun have claimed that the Spaniard is set to be offered an extended deal at the Emirates Stadium with the club hierarchy having been left impressed with his work in north London so far.
It is suggested that a new deal would bring with it a significant pay rise - wages that would see him match that pay packet that iconic Gunners manager Arsene Wenger was receiving during his final season in charge at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and he has previously revealed his affection for the job.
Speaking in December 2020, he said: "I know how difficult this job can be in normal conditions.
“When you get to a club that goes through what we have in a year and on top of that we have a pandemic which is affecting the whole industry. To do your profession is even more challenging.
"At the same time I'm telling you I love what I do and I feel so lucky and privileged to be at this football club. The circumstances and context are what they are, we have to face them."
Arteta was unveiled as Unai Emery’s replacement at the Emirates Stadium over two years ago, with his compatriot having been sacked following a disappointing spell.
The former midfielder enjoyed an immediate impact having led the club to the FA Cup, as well as the Community Shield.
Despite a few tricky periods and instances where he looked like he was set to lose his job at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta appears to have galvanised the group and he is now aiming to secure the club a return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2017/18 campaign.
In his 115 matches in charge of the Gunners, he has won 64.
