Leandro Trossard has revealed the role Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu played in convincing him to sign for the Gunners. The 28-year-old was confirmed as Arsenal's first January arrival, joining the club on a long-term contract, believed to be until 2027 with the option of a further year, on a £21million fee plus add-ons, football.london understands.
Speaking to the club website about his move to the current Premier League leaders, Trossard said: "I'm really excited to get started," he told the club's official website. "This is a big club and I’m ready to show the fans what I can do. Everyone has seen how well we’re doing already and I’m here to help achieve their dreams - including myself.
"I’m going to take it day by day, work hard and try to help the team to achieve their goals. [I want to] get better as well. I know the manager is a great coach and I hope to be involved in doing great things and getting better as a player in every aspect.

"I’m really excited to see the fans in the stadium. I hope I can give you my all. I want to try and create as many magic moments as possible, and hopefully we can celebrate together."
Trossard became Arsenal's immediate priority after losing out on Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea last weekend, with Edu completing the deal in the space of 24 hours. The reason behind the speed of those negotiations was in order to prevent another hijack from occurring, with Tottenham and Chelsea both having shown an interest in the versatile Belgian.
With interest from two other London clubs prominent, Trossard could have easily ended up at either, but he has now explained how Edu and Arteta convinced him to join the Gunners.
"They told me they really like me as a player, that I would really suit the system and how they want to play," he added. "It helps me that I’m versatile and that I can play in different positions.
"They’re looking forward to working with me and vice versa. I’m really excited to work with them and I think Mikel is a top coach.
Another reason for the urgency of the deal was because Arsenal were hoping to have Trossard available for selection for their Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday. In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Arteta confirmed he thinks the clubs latest arrival was registered in time and therefore can participate at the weekend.
