Former Celtic star Stefan Johansen has lifted the lid on the conversation he had with Michael Beale his boss QPR to join his ex rivals Rangers. The Norwegian insists the Londoners 'can’t dwell' on the 42-year-old’s departure as they look to move on from losing their manager after just six months.
The Norwegian, who spent two years at Parkhead, has been at Loftus Road for almost two years after initially joining on loan from Fulham. And Beale spoke to the 31-year-old about his decision to leave west London for Govan with QPR sitting seventh in the Championship after four defeats from their last five games following a flying start.
With Paul Hall currently in caretaker charge, Johansen told the club website: “He did a great job in the time he was here. I know from speaking with him that it wasn’t an easy decision for him to leave us, and there were family reasons too. I wish him all the best but we can’t dwell on that now. The club will move forward and that is what we are looking to do as players.
“Managers leaving is part of football and each player has a responsibility now to move forward and to continue doing what we are doing. The facts are we in a great position in the league. As players, we had a meeting and had a good chat.
"Everyone has agreed that Paul Hall has come in and is doing a great job already. Even though the manager has left there is an excitement here. Recent results haven’t been great but there is a real hunger to turn that around.”
