Fans enjoy Leeds demise
With a top-four finish secured and their place in next season's Champions League already confirmed, Manchester United fans were able to enjoy the final day of their season in relative calm. They were also able to look on at some of their less fortunate rivals and enjoy their struggles.
Nowhere more so than at Elland Road was the tension as high, with Leeds United needing to win and hoping both Everton and Leicester City drop points. And it was a terrible start for the West Yorkshire side, with Harry Kane opening the scoring for Tottenham inside two minutes.
RATINGS: De Gea and Malacia good in Fulham win
United fans were evidently keeping an eye on matters elsewhere whether it impacted them or not, and it didn't take long for the Old Trafford faithful to break out the songbook with a rendition of 'Leeds are falling apart again', which rang out around the ground in the second half once their relegation was all but confirmed.
De Gea mobbed
It has undeniably been a tough season for David de Gea, with a string of high-profile errors and his uncertain contract situation overshadowing the campaign. However, the 32-year-old's league campaign ended on a high note when he brilliantly saved Aleksandar Mitrovic's penalty.
Fulham were 1-0 up when Casemiro brought down Tom Cairney in the box and Mitrovic looked set to double his side's lead but for a sprawling dive and parry away from De Gea, who was mobbed and congratulated by his teammates. Should Fulham have gone 2-0 up, then it could have been a different final game entirely.
De Gea then picked up his Golden Glove award after full-time, registering 17 Premier League clean sheets over the course of the season.
Rashford shows Casemiro appreciation
United fans got a final chance of the season to show their support for Casemiro when he was substituted off midway through the second half. The Brazilian has enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign at Old Trafford, making a mockery of those who criticised the club for spending £70million on him.
As well as the supporters, Marcus Rashford also showed his love for the midfield anchor, joining in with the applause as he left the pitch. It can't be measured, of course, but the effect of Casemiro's mentality on those around him - including Rashford - has been incredible this season.
Weghorst's disbelief
While everything seems to have gone right for Casemiro, the same cannot be said for Wout Weghorst. Signed on loan from Burnley in January, the Dutchman has scored just two goals, neither of which came in the Premier League.
With a permanent move unlikely, Weghorst was handed a chance to say farewell when he replaced Rashford on 77 minutes. And there was a chance to finally find that Premier League goal when a swift counter saw Facundo Pellistri cross it to him in space.
But with the goal gaping, Weghorst was able only to stretch and direct it wide, his head on the floor for what seemed like an eternity before a quick look at the Old Trafford crowd and a shake of the head.
Fans show Licha love
United players enjoyed their obligatory end-of-season lap of honour after the final whistle, and Lisandro Martinez was present on the pitch along with his family. It was the first time Reds fans have seen the Argentine since the season-ending injury he picked up against Sevilla last month.
As expected, he received plenty of love on his way around and was serenaded with chants of 'Argentina! Argentina!' on his way down the tunnel.
