Manchester United fans showed their empathy for Donny van de Beek after the Reds' win against Brentford.
Van de Beek was an unused substitution again on Wednesday night as United beat Brentford 3-1 away in London.
The Dutchman has struggled for game time since his £40m arrival from Ajax in September 2020 and he made just two starts in the Premier League in 2021, while he's only managed to play a total of 380 minutes across all competitions this season.
Van de Beek had a five-minute cameo versus Aston Villa at the weekend and that was actually his 50th appearance for the club, however, United were criticised for celebrating that milestone after that draw, being labelled tone-deaf by some.
The midfielder has started just 19 out of a possible 90 United games and he wants to leave United in search of game time.
Van de Beek was ready to join Everton on loan in the summer, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked that proposed temporary exit and Ralf Rangnick has also indicated that he wants the player to stay despite his sporadic involvement under his watch.
United fans have always empathised with Van de Beek's predicament and they sang his name away at Brentford. After the game had ended, Van de Beek completed his warm-down and he was serenaded by fans, who loudly chanted his name in support.
The player reacted by holding up his hands, gesturing to thank the travelling contingent.
It's understood Van de Beek will push to leave United in the summer if he remains at the club and his situation doesn't improve.
