What Man City need to do to secure the Premier League title and end Arsenal's dream

Manchester City will be aiming to reclaim top spot in the Premier League when they take on West Ham tonight.

Arsenal's 3-1 success over Chelsea on Tuesday moved the Gunners back into pole position, two points clear of Pep Guardiola's side. Mikel Arteta's men had failed to win in four matches, including a 4-1 thumping at the Etihad which handed the title initiative to City.

The Blues have won their last eight top flight matches, a run dating back to a draw at Nottingham Forest in February. Their form has eradicated the lead Arsenal held and City are now closing in on another Premier League title.

They will be favourites to pick up three points against the Hammers and return to the summit ahead of the final weeks of the campaign. But City's incredible run of form has put them in a position where they can afford a slip up and still end the season as champions.

Arsenal have only four league games left, in comparison to City's six, and the Gunners can reach a maximum of 90 points if they win their remaining quartet of fixtures. City, who are currently on 76 points from their 32 games, therefore need a maximum of 15 points to ensure they cannot be caught.

Five wins will suffice meaning even defeat to the Hammers won't take the title out of City's hands. The Blues also have the superior goal difference so 14 points from their run will likely be enough, regardless of what Arsenal manage.

If the Gunners are beaten at Champions League chasing Newcastle United at the weekend, City's points target will drop to 88, meaning four wins will earn them another top flight crown. Pep Guardiola's men take on Leeds United this weekend ahead of the first leg of their European last four tie with Real Madrid.
