What Liverpool fans did outside Anfield as Tottenham beat Manchester City

As far as days go, Saturday will have been right up there for Liverpool - and Tottenham had a massive impact on that.

The Reds, who are second in the Premier League table, beat Norwich City 3-1 at Anfield despite going a goal down early in the second-half. The win for Jurgen Klopp's men meant they went within six points of Manchester City at the top of the table.

However, there was probably an expectation that the gap would go back to nine when City faced Spurs around 40 minutes after the match at Anfield reached its conclusion.

City had been in such sparkling form and had not lost a match in the Premier League since October, so Tottenham went into the clash as huge underdogs.

Spurs, though, produced a sensational counter-attacking performance at the Etihad Stadium and ensured City left their stadium empty-handed - leaving Liverpool supporters in dreamland.

This left some Reds supporters at Hotel Anfield, located just outside of the stadium, in ecstasy, with the Premier League title race now back in their side's hands.

If Liverpool can beat Leeds United in their game in-hand on Wednesday afternoon, the gap will be down to just three points and the top two still have to go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium later in the season.

Antonio Conte, of course, will not care too much about how his side have now impacted the title race, but the Tottenham boss was clearly delighted with the way his team performed in Manchester.

Speaking to the media after the match, Conte spoke about how his squad have reacted following three straight Premier League defeats going into the Man City clash.

He said: "It was two defeats. Because the other league defeat was against Chelsea before the international break and in the FA Cup we won against Brighton – then we lost two games against Southampton and Wolves.

"For sure, it’s not easy when you lose games because the confidence goes a bit down. We have to trust in the work we’re doing, have to believe in what we’re doing every day. I’m enjoying working with this group of players.

"Every day, they show me great availability, the will and desire to improve. They will also to come into my idea of football. We want to give our best until the end of the season.

"My target is that at the end of the season to see every single one of my players improving. It means at the end of the season we have raised our level."
