What Liverpool dressing room said after Watford win

Liverpool marked the start of a defining month in their season with a 2-0 win over Watford at Anfield.

The Reds took the lead midway through the first-half as Joe Gomez crossed for Diogo Jota to head the ball beyond goalkeeper Ben Foster. Though Watford provided a stern test, with Jurgen Klopp’s side recovering from the international break, the win was finally rubber-stamped through a late Fabinho penalty .

The victory briefly put Liverpool top of the Premier League before Manchester City registered a win over Burnley. With a top of the table clash with City up next in the league, the Liverpool squad took time to celebrate the vital three points on social media.

Big games ahead

Liverpool have little time to rest as they prepare to travel to Lisbon to take on Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, before the top of the table clash with City next Sunday. The sequence will then be repeated, as the Reds take on Pep Guardiola’s side in an FA Cup semi-final.

With games against rivals Manchester United and Everton also to come in April, the club face a relentless schedule. However, Virgil van Dijk had a calming message for Liverpool fans on Instagram: “Just enjoy the ride…”

Jordan Henderson also acknowledged that there was still a long way to go for the Reds: “Good start…big month ahead”. While Curtis Jones, who was handed a start by Klopp, echoed the skipper’s sentiments: “Big couple months coming up. Another 3pts! Well done boys.”

Goalscorer Fabinho was another who was focussed on what was to come. The Brazilian said: “Thanks God, great 3 points! Now off to a tough week. Let's do this together, Reds!”

Ten in a row

Having succeeded in closing City’s once considerable lead at the top to just one point, the team continued to pile on the pressure against Watford. The victory represented the Reds’ 10th league win in a row, a feat that deserved to be celebrated.

Though he was in the stands for the game, Adrian posted on his Instagram story: “WWWWWWWWWW 10 consecutive wins”. Diogo Jota stated his aim to overtake Manchester City, with an emoji pointing to the top, alongside the caption: “Another 3 points”

After a pause in league action, James Milner was impressed with how the team got the win, alongside a couple of notable hashtags. He said: “Big 3 points after the international break and a great pen Fab #jotatheslota #whataballjoey #ynwa”
