What Leeds United did before World Cup break has changed one Premier League race

Leeds United are set for a vital period of festive Premier League fixtures in their battle to avoid relegation.

Amid a resurgence in form prior to the mid-season World Cup break, which included dramatic wins against Liverpool and Bournemouth, Jesse Marsch's side find themselves sitting in 15th place.

The Whites will, undoubtedly, be hoping to avoid a nail-biting end to the current campaign following last season's climatic finale at Brentford. Though, their current two-point gap from the drop zone offers no guarantees.

Manchester City's visit to Elland Road on December, 28 provides Leeds with the sternest of challenges upon the recommencement of top-flight fixtures and all clubs will be looking to hit the ground running when football returns.

Then comes the January transfer window. A period during which languishing sides aim to make significant reinforcements and boost their survival prospects. Leeds are expected to be active in the market.

Whilst ambitions of securing a fourth consecutive season of Premier League football remain firmly intact in Yorkshire, perspective can swiftly change on a weekly basis at elite level.

The bookies, however, are backing Marsch and co to mount a successful survival bid. With that in mind, below are the latest Premier League relegation odds courtesy of SkyBet.
