What Kurt Zouma did at Chelsea that David Moyes wants to see at West Ham after Bournemouth goal

West Ham United boss David Moyes hopes to see more goals from Kurt Zouma after scoring the opener in their 2-0 win against Bournemouth.

The French defender scored his second goal for the club with a header in first-half stoppage-time during Monday night's Premier League clash at the London Stadium. All three points were wrapped up shortly before the final whistle when Said Benrahma scored from the penalty spot.

Zouma scored ten goals in 151 appearances for former club Chelsea before his £29.8million move to the Hammers in August last year. Moyes revealed that the 27-year-old’s ability to score the odd goal was one of the reasons West Ham signed the French international.

“I’m pleased Kurt got a goal because we bought him partly knowing he had that ability, we saw him do it for Chelsea,” said Moyes. “I’m hoping he can get a few more for us.

“Overall, Kurt was nice and steady [against Bournemouth] apart from maybe the last 15 or 20 minutes when they went a little bit more direct, put us under a little bit of pressure.

“We’d sort of looked as if we’d stopped playing and stopped trying to get the goal at that period and trying to get the second goal, we nearly sat off it a little bit, let them back into the game a bit. But, we had done enough, we should have done enough to see the game out by that time.”

In total, Zouma has scored 19 goals in over 340 appearances amid spells with five different clubs, including on loan at Stoke City and Everton. The defender opened his account for the Hammers last season when he netted in a 3-2 win against Liverpool at the London Stadium.
