What Jorginho did to help Chelsea win Club World Cup title despite not being on the pitch

It has been quite a year for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho and he added a fourth trophy to his collection from the past 12 months on Saturday evening.

After sneaking past Al Hilal in the semi-finals, Chelsea faced Palmeiras in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, a trophy that had eluded the Blues previously.

But that ended in the United Arab Emirates as a first half header from Romelu Lukaku and a penalty deep into extra time from Kai Havertz helped Thomas Tuchel's side to glory.

It means Jorginho has now won the Champions League, European Championship, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup within the space of 12 months.

The Italy international will have the chance to add the Carabao Cup to that collection at the end of February when they play Liverpool in the final at Wembley.

It is a winning mentality that has personified Roman Abramovich's time at the club and Jorginho displayed it in abundance after Havertz had scored the winner.

As the Chelsea players rushed to the corner to celebrate in front of the travelling fans, the 30-year-old joined in from the substitutes' bench, having not been picked to start by Tuchel.

N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic were the German's preferred pairing in midfield.

But instead of just celebrating, Jorginho did his best to keep the rest of his teammates' jubilation lasting as long as possible, visibly pushing them to stay off the field.

With three minutes of regulation time remaining, and an eventual six minutes of injury time, Palmeiras would have had plenty of time to equalise again.

Could this clever demonstration of the dark arts from the Italian have made a small but significant difference to the eventual result?
