What Joao Felix said to send Atletico Madrid sly dig upon Chelsea arrival ahead of Fulham clash

On-loan Chelsea star Joao Felix has been caught sending Atletico Madrid a sly dig upon his introduction to the facilities at Cobham training ground. The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United this month but, after the Blues entered the race late, he opted for a move to Stamford Bridge instead.

Chelsea are expected to pay the Spanish giants around £9million for the six-month loan signing of Felix, who has been watched on numerous occasions this season by the club's scouts. However, Atletico did not want to include an option to buy in the contract.

On Wednesday, January 11, the Blues announced the signing of Felix on a six-month loan from the Spanish giants as Graham Potter looks to bolster his frontline. Upon his arrival to Cobham, it seems that the Portugal international has been left impressed by the facilities - more so than what was available at Atletico.

In a behind-the-scenes video filmed by Chelsea documenting Felix's introduction to the training ground in Surrey, he was heard aiming a dig at his parent club. As he was shown the gym at Cobham, the Portuguese star gestured the perimeters of the building and said: "Atletico is like this part, half."

With ten Chelsea players currently out injured, the Portuguese star is set to be thrown in the deep end, though it remains to be seen whether he can feature against Fulham on Thursday night, January 12. As per the Premier League regulations handbook, if Felix was to feature at Craven Cottage, he needed to be officially registered as a Chelsea player by 12pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The rulebook states: "Subject to the provisions of Rule V.1, the deadline for receipt by the Board of all duly completed documents required by these Rules to effect the registration of a Player shall be 12 noon on the last Working Day before the date of the first League Match in which the Club making the application intends him to play, save that the international transfer certificate and evidence of eligibility to take up employment in the United Kingdom (in both cases if applicable) may be provided thereafter (but must be provided before the Player is eligible to play for a Club in a League Match)."

The club statement from Chelsea announcing his arrival was put out at exactly 12pm which would indicate all the forms and applications had been signed in the morning. Therefore, there's a good chance that Felix could be available for selection against Fulham.
