What Joao Felix did for Enzo Fernandez as Chelsea sent clear £124.5m summer transfer message

Chelsea midfield star Enzo Fernandez has urged the club to make Joao Felix's loan switch into a permanent stay in the summer transfer window. It comes after the Atletico Madrid striker has impressed in his short spell with the Blues so far, showing the quality he has in reserve.

The Portuguese international signed on a loan deal in January that lasts until the end of the season, having fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone. At Stamford Bridge, there were hopes that the 23-year-old would be able to recapture some of the form that has had him touted as a promising talent.

His impact on the squad has been clear too, settling in as a key member, despite only having a guaranteed stay of a few months at Stamford Bridge. Fernandez summed this up best when he described how Felix had helped him settle shortly after making a British transfer record switch.

Speaking to the Guardian, he said: "Felix called me when I got here to ask if he could be of any help, when you get on with someone it helps on the field." It shows the impact he has had on the squad so far and potentially a glimpse into a future leadership role wherever he ends up.

For the World Cup winner, he is hopeful that the place his current teammate will end up calling home is in west London, urging the Blues to make the move permanent. Fernandez told the Times: "He's [Felix] a great player isn't he, a fantastic player, lots of ability and qualities, he's a key player for us, let's hope Chelsea can do all they can to keep hold of him in June."

It remains to be seen whether a move is possible in the summer, with Atleti tying the forward down to a new deal before he made a loan move. Reports claim that a whopping £124.5million would make the deal permanent, but it remains to be seen if that is feasible for the Blues.
