Jack Grealish thanked Pep Guardiola after winning the Champions League with Manchester City.
The £100m winger put a difficult first season at the club behind him to play a major role in City winning an historic treble.
Having already lifted the Premier League and the FA Cup, City conquered Europe for the first time thanks to a second-half strike from Rodri to see off the spirited challenge of Inter Milan.
City were far from their best in Istanbul and had to rely on two stunning saves from Ederson in the dying embers of the game to ensure it did not go to extra-time.
That, however, mattered little when the full-time whistle went and sparked scenes of jubilant celebration.
An emotional Grealish revealed he went straight to Guardiola to thank him after the biggest night of his career.
"This is what you work your whole life for,” he told BT Sport.
“I’m so happy.
"I was awful but I don’t care. To win the treble with this group of players is so special.
"Everyone who knows me knows how much I love football and this is what I have worked for my whole life.
"Seeing my family in the crowd makes me so emotional.
"i just said to the manager ‘I want to thank you’. He has put so much faith in me. He is a genius."
