Meet the people who live on the streets made famous by the Inbetweeners – with one claiming the cast never thought the show would be a hit.
The British comedy, which followed the mishaps of four awkward teenagers, ran on TV from 2008 to 2010 and has become a cult classic.
Much of the filming for scenes involving the lads’ houses was done in Abbots Langley, UK.
Janette Creasey, 69, lives opposite ‘Will’s house’ – and watched the show grow from the very beginning.
She moved in 2007 – the year filming began.
The mom-of-two said it didn’t affect their day-to-day life too often – except “the road was closed occasionally.”
And her most memorable moment was bumping into the entire cast in the early stages of filming the first season.
Janette, a retired teacher, said she got the impression the cast never expected the show to take off.
“When we first moved in, they were filming in the house opposite. Nobody had heard of it – it had just started out,” said Janette.
“One thing I remember was stepping outside my house one day and four young men were outside my door.
“I asked them, ‘Are you the stars of the show?’ “They responded, ‘Stars? What stars?’ They laughed and thought it was hilarious.”
“At that point, it was clear they never imagined it would end up like this.”
A decade on, the Inbetweeners is remembered as one of the UK’s most iconic sitcoms.
And while Janette said she “isn’t much of a fan,” she said the interaction stuck in her mind.
She added: “Maybe I’m a bit prude because the younger generation down from me all loved it.
“But I thought it was a bit crude – I remember thinking, ‘How do they get away with saying that?’
“I don’t think they get away with so much these days.”
Bryan Farrelly, 67, lives in ‘Simon’s house’ with wife Cynthia, 67, and daughter Lauren, 32.
The family has lived there since 2008.
This means they experienced several filming days, but say it “didn’t really interrupt our schedules.”
Bryan, a part-time flooring contractor, said: “We just did whatever needed getting on with.”
The most unusual thing is seeing their own home on the TV – which he described as “a bit strange.”
Next door to Brian lives Paul Pyzer, 45, who moved into his home in 2012.
Paul would often see his own home make an appearance in the sitcom when they were filming scenes in Simon’s home.
While most of the filming had been done by the time Paul moved in with wife Danielle Pyzer, 44, the show was still a hit.
“For years they would see cars driving around the cul-de-sac – and it took them a long time to work out why,” said Paul.
Paul, a teacher, said: “It didn’t really enter our minds when we were looking for a house, although we were aware of the show.
“Occasionally we would see cars coming into the cul de sac and drive slowly past the house.
“When we first saw it happen, we had no idea why.
“People would be walking, looking and taking photos.”
He said at one point when the show was at the height of its popularity, there would be groups of people doing tours of the area.
He added: “It’s mainly the cars – you know them because they’re driving very slowly to look at the houses.”
