Twitter has changed incredibly since Elon Musk's takeover towards the back end of last year, with a number of users ditching the social media platform altogether due to the ever-changing landscape.
As well as the launch of the dreaded 'pay to play' Twitter Blue subscription, the platform has been jam packed with glitches and bugs as of recent - including one which saw users hit with a viewing 'rate limit', only allowing unverified account see 600 posts per day.
So it comes as very little surprise that competitors have been crawling out of the woodwork as of recent, trying to capitalise on the downfall of the once beloved Twitter platform. However, many have failed - departing quicker than they landed.

But one which looks to stay for the long run comes in the form of Mark Zuckerberg's latest side-project in Threads. Only launching today, the Meta spin-off claims to have received more than ten million user sign ups at the time of writing - and instead of focusing on photo content like Instagram, it seems to hone in more on conversation like its competitor in Twitter.
What is Threads?
Threads is a new social media platform which focuses on written content - simply allowing users to create threaded topics of conversation with their friends and followers alike.
Easily accessible via Instagram, users are able to link the two social media platforms to make it easier to find people to connect with - and you'll even keep your Instagram name when you make the transition.
Users are given a 500 character limit to play with, but can alternatively choose to upload photos and videos at their leisure. You can also repost content from other users, via well-places share buttons at the end of each post.
As well as seeing posts from the people you're following on the homepage, you'll also see popular content from creators whom you might like - making it easier to find, and join in with conversations that you find interesting in a simplistic manner.
Threads is currently available to download for both Android and iPhone devices, from the retrospective Google Play and App Stores alike.
