The Los Angeles Rams have already faced two teams that were coming off their bye week this season, losing to both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys. Now, it’s their turn.
The Rams were off in Week 10 and will now face the Seattle Seahawks at home on Sunday. The bye couldn’t have at a better time, allowing Matthew Stafford, Ernest Jones, Rob Havenstein and Cobie Durant all to rest up and recover from their respective injuries.
Surprisingly, the Rams’ record following a bye isn’t that great under Sean McVay. He’s been excellent in season openers when he’s had ample time to prepare for Los Angeles’ first opponent, but the same can’t be said about post-bye games.
Since 2017, the Rams are just 3-3 following a bye.
- 2017: Win vs. Giants (51-17)
- 2018: Win vs. Lions (30-16)
- 2019: Loss vs. Steelers (17-12)
- 2020: Win vs. Seahawks (23-16)
- 2021: Loss vs. Packers (36-28)
- 2022: Loss vs. 49ers (31-14)
The Rams have lost each of their last two games after a bye week, both with Stafford under center. In those games, Stafford threw for only 462 yards and had four touchdown passes with one interception.
The Rams defense just had no answers for the Packers or 49ers in those games, allowing a total of 67 points. The Seahawks don’t have the high-powered offenses that the Packers and 49ers did, but the Rams still have to account for playmakers such as DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Kenneth Walker.
