What is Prime drink and when does it return to Aldi Specialbuys?

What is Prime drink

While adults are going wild trying to get their hands on M&S Magic coffee, there's a beverage in a bottle that kids are still trying to get hold of after it landed in the UK in December - but what is Prime drink and when does it return to Aldi Specialbuys?

There's often food and drink items that hit shelves and cause a stir among shoppers,  whether it's M&S white strawberries or Tesco's Avozilla, and one that is so rare to get hold of it's rarely found stocked on shelves is the Prime drink, which comes in a variety of flavors.

The viral sensation is coming back to supermarket shelves after previous sell-outs when it was first stocked by the low-cost supermarket earlier this year and there's going to be even more flavors.

If you are lucky to get hold of a bottle or can, you may have to pay a small fortune - some are reportedly selling for as much as £3,000 a bottle, while one Yorkshire store is said to be giving them away 'free' to kids - or if know a shopkeeper who will set one aside for you, you might be in luck.

What is Prime drink?

Prime drink, known as Prime Hydration, is a range of sports drinks, drink mixes and energy drinks created and marketed by Prime Hydration, LLC. It was developed by American media personality Logan Paul in collaboration with YouTube rapper and boxer KSI (who has a KSI documentary out in January 2023).

The drinks first went on sale in the US back in early 2022 and the UK didn't receive its first batch of the drinks until December but they sold out almost as soon as they arrived. It was exclusively sold in ASDA but other outlets, such as corner shops, have started selling them.

When does Prime return to Aldi Specialbuys?

Prime returns to Aldi Specialbuys from 18th April for just £1.99. The low cost supermarket announced the drink will be a Specialbuy – and as with all Specialbuys, "once they’re gone, they’re gone!"

After the drink’s last stint in the supermarket saw high shopper demand, a purchase limit of one of each flavor per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy Prime.

The drink, which is 10% coconut water, contains electrolytes and B vitamins and BCAAs, has zero sugar and around 20 calories per bottle. Aldi shoppers can choose from six different flavors, including the new Limited Edition Orange and Mango, Meta Moon, Tropical Punch, Blue Raspberry, Lemon and Lime, and Ice Pop.

What time does Prime restock on the website?

Prime is expected to restock on the Prime website from 5pm on Friday 17th February with bottles of its Ice Pop, Blue Raspberry, Tropical Punch and Lemon Lime plus a limited edition Prime x KSI bundle - which features 12 drinks a KSI bandana and a KSI t-shirt. Meanwhile, its new flavour of Orange & Mango is due to arrive in shops on Tuesday 21st February, according to Prime Tracker on Twitter.

It shared, "Sainsbury's are expecting to receive stock NEXT WEEK by the 22nd!!!...INCLUDING KSI ORANGE & MANGO! They will be first store to stock it!"

The post included the alert, which reads, "Starting to arrive from Tuesday 21st February, with all stores receiving stock by Wednesday 22nd February".

There is a limit of 10 bottles per person.

Fans are advised to set up a shop account, to enable a faster online transaction, with many set to log-on to their computers early.

The Twitter user advises, "I've never seen an Apple Pay option. The quickest way to pay is to be signed in with your Shop account that already has your card details setup."

They added, "The option to pay with your Shop account appears on the website too. I've used that payment method on every restock and I've never missed one - even the very first May 2022 restock."

Some shoppers warn, "The drink is refreshingly sharp and is best took in sips not gulped" and it "tastes like raspberry jelly with a kick" and is best served "chilled from the bottle".

Another happy customer said, "Cheaper than all resellers, although the price should be £2, quite nice tasting, after all the hype, thought it was going to taste like standard energy drinks. Nice alternative."

But a third shopper claimed, "I honestly wouldn't buy it again £14 for a bottle of slush flavoured water."
