On Thursday the bombshell news was announced that long-standing Late Late Show host Ryan Tubridy was planning to end his time helming the show.
Previously the veteran broadcaster had hinted about what was to come for him in the future, however, he had always maintained that his career as a host would not be over anytime soon.
Ahead of the iconic Late Late Toy Show going underway in 2021, the Late Late Show host told the Sunday Times Culture magazine that he has “got something else in me” but he wasn’t sure what it is yet.

“I’m 48 years old and, as I get a little older, I think there’s more to come. It won’t be RTE forever. I will hit a point where I think I’ve got something else in me.
“I’m not sure what it is yet. Not for a few years, but it will happen,” he added in the 2021 interview.
Tubridy, who is the highest-paid broadcaster on RTÉ, revealed that while he was unsure what would come next at the time he had planned to write more books and make more documentaries.
This is not the only time Tubridy has spoke of the future however, with the broadcaster contemplating heading for London to work for the BBC six years ago, following a short stint as a radio presenter on BBC Radio 2 for Terry Wogan, Graham Norton and Chris Evans.
He added that those jobs filling in came at a very important time for the broadcaster when his confidence had dipped and he needed to prove more to himself.
“I needed the validation, and I got both proof and validation that I was OK. I wasn’t very convinced by myself at the time when my confidence took a dip,” he added.
However, he added that another UK move wouldn’t be something he would consider as his two daughters are in Ireland.
“I was never going to let career trump my job as a father. I love them too much to be that far away from them for too long,” Tubridy continued.
