'What is going on?' - Liverpool fans make the same point after Gabriel Martinelli goal for Arsenal

Liverpool got off to the worst possible start against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, conceding a Gabriel Martinelli goal after 58 seconds played at the Emirates Stadium.

The Brazilian's well-taken finish continued the Reds' concerning pattern of starting matches slowly and means the Reds have now conceded the first goal in ten of their last 12 Premier League fixtures.

Being bold with his team selection, Jurgen Klopp opted for the same system deployed in Tuesday's win over Rangers with Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara acting as the deep-lying midfielders.

Although this move away from 4-3-3 was welcomed by a number of supporters, others were left concerned of the space in midfield that could be exploited. Failing to get to the pace of the game during the opening stages is a trend fans were quick to pick up on after witnessing the home side's impressive start, with some supporters taking to Twitter to express their concerns.

There was further frustration for the Reds in the first half following Arsenal's opener after Klopp's side were denied a penalty when Gabriel appeared to block an attempted ball to the back post with his hand. A VAR check took place but no action was taken against the Brazilian defender, much to the bemusement of many.
