The queues seen at Dublin Airport over the weekend have caused concern for many passengers as over 1,000 people missed their flights due to the delays.
The lengthy queues have prompted large numbers of travellers to arrive at the airport hours in advance of their flight’s departure time to avoid any complications.
However, Dublin Airport’s Media manager Graeme McQueen suggested passengers still arrive at the airport just 2.5 hours ahead of a short-haul flight and 3.5 hours ahead of a transatlantic flight, with an additional half-hour added for baggage check as arriving too early can cause bottlenecks.

Other passengers still nervous about getting to their flight on time may look to purchase Fast Track.
Fast Track provides access to a dedicated security lane, enabling you to fly through security and reach the departure lounge quickly.
Currently, it is open, but only for those who already have a confirmed booking, as Dublin Airport are temporarily not taking any new bookings.
Purchasing a Fast Track ticket can cost anywhere between €6.99 and €12.99 and is dependent on the date and time of travel.
What do I get?
As part of the Fast Track service, passengers get access to a dedicated Fast Track channel, Flight status updates via text message and a Complimentary hot beverage.

Fast Track is only open at designated times.
These are as follows:
Terminal 1: From 04.00 to 21.00
Terminal 2: From 05.00 to 14:00 (Mon-Thurs) and 05:00 to 10:00 (Fri-Sun)
How long should confirmed Fast Track holders arrive before their flight?
If you are flying soon, you should be aware that it might be very busy at peak periods, so allow yourself plenty of time.
At peak times, this can mean up to three and a half hours before your departure time. If parking a car, allow a further 30 minutes.
Although new bookings for Fast Track are currently closed, all confirmed bookings will be honoured as well as Special Flyer lanyard holders and their one companion.
Business class and first class passengers will also still be able to use Fast Track.
Airport Club customers who present their membership card will also have access. However, there may be longer queues than normal, so we thank customers for their patience and understanding.
