Frank Lampard certainly has an idea of how he wants his midfielders to play, a tell which may be a sign of why he's wanting to bring in Donny van de Beek to Everton.
If anyone knows what it takes to become a successful Premier League goal-scoring midfielder then it’s Lampard.
Although the move is yet to be announced, it's expected that Lampard will become new Everton boss at some point within the next 24 hours.
The Blues have had a shocking start to the season, sacking Rafa Benitez whilst just outside of the relegation zone - bringing in the former Derby and Chelsea boss.
And whilst Lampard won't have long to bring in new acquisitions to the club before Monday's transfer deadline, it looks like he's been able to get hold of one, in the Dutch midfielder.
Van de Beek has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, in what can only be described as a nightmare 18 months since joining from Ajax.
Only 27 league appearances for United in that time, with the majority coming from the bench, the talented box-to-box midfielder has primarily been used as a substitute for both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.
He'll look to join Everton in the hope to revive his career, and may have found the perfect manager to play under in Lampard.
Whilst at Chelsea, Lampard hinted that he looks for his midfielders to play with energy and creativity in the middle of the park.
Everton do have number of defensive-minded central players in the team, but lack an offensive-minded central midfielder, something Van de Beek would bring to Goodison Park.
When speaking on the type of players he wants to bring to his teams, Lampard said: "You have to look at the balance of the squad and think where do we need to improve.
"And then you grow through the process of looking around and finding what profile you're looking for.
"Do I want them to be physically great, technically great or somewhere in the middle?
"That's what your job is as a manager, and that's why when a new manager comes in, they want to make two or three signings to suit their vision and effect this team.
"Then maybe when I can stand up and talk up my team, I can see it is quick, pacy, with lots of energy.
"The players you bring him have to improve your squad, go along with the vision of the team, and they have to be good people.
"I want them to want to be good for themselves, I don't really care what their motive is - they may want to play for Real Madrid in a few years, that's just life.
"I just want them to want to work, not be selfish and want to win."
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that his move to Everton is now done, and he'll join for the rest of the season.
It is unclear whether United will dip into the window this month, but all signs point towards a quite one on the incoming front.
