What Harry Kane, Steven Bergwijn and the Tottenham team did immediately after Leicester City win

What a truly remarkable night at the King Power Stadium.

Dominating the game and having a total of 27 shots across the 90 minutes, Antonio Conte's Tottenham team left it until the very last second of stoppage time to claim all three points.

The game should have been over as a contest long before that, however, with Spurs squandering chance after chance, but it was Steven Bergwijn who proved to be the matchwinner with an extremely late double.

Appearing to snatch a point for the Lilywhites with nine seconds of the allotted five minutes of stoppage time remaining, there was still time for an unlikely winner.

Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans lost the ball from the restart and, 79 seconds after the equaliser, the comeback was complete after Bergwijn got on the end of Harry Kane's through ball to round Kasper Schmeichel and fire in off the post.

Sprinting away and jumping over the advertising hoardings to celebrate with the terrific away support, the Dutchman was soon joined by the rest of his teammates, including Hugo Lloris, who sprinted the length of the pitch to celebrate.

It was chaotic in the away end after the equaliser but this time the celebrations were on another level.

They continued after the final whistle, with a jubilant Kane sprinting from the halfway line back towards the fans as soon as referee Craig Pawson sounded his whistle rather than opting to immediately shake the hands of his Leicester opponents.

Ben Davies was the next to join the England captain in front of the away support having run all the way from his left-back berth, with Sergio Reguilon across from the touchline very quickly after his earlier substitution to celebrate with Kane.

Bergwijn would also soon be there as he leapt into Kane's arms, before he was then mobbed by unused substitutes Pierluigi Gollini, Bryan Gil, Ryan Sessegnon and Dane Scarlett.

It was the perfect end to an incredible night's football at the King Power Stadium as the Tottenham squad, Antonio Conte and his coaching staff all celebrated together with the fans after picking up three valuable points.

Managing director of football Fabio Paratici was also involved in the scenes on the pitch as he could be seen walking back towards the tunnel when everyone finally made way.

Tottenham fans, who were in full voice from the very first minute to the last, were keen to savour every single second of that thrilling comeback and chanted in unison long after the final whistle until stewards finally moved them on.

Speaking in his post-match press conference about Spurs' remarkable turnaround, Conte said: "I think it was an amazing game. Honestly, we didn’t deserve to lose the game and also we didn’t deserve to draw because we created many chances and in many circumstances we were unlucky.

"To arrive in added time losing 2-1 was honestly a great, great disappointment. At the end my players showed great resilience, great desire. Don't give up. This must be our philosophy, don’t give up and fight until the end.

"They showed me great desire. When we had equalised, we got the ball and we wanted to restart the game and to try to win. I think it was good for me to see this type of attitude from my players.

"Then I know very well that we have a long path to do, there is a lot of space for improvement but at the same time it was good to get three points against an important team like Leicester. Don’t forget Leicester won the FA Cup last season, the Community Shield this season and they finished in front of us in the table last season. They have a great manager who is doing a fantastic job here. To get three points against them here is very important for us."

Needing three points to close in on the top four, Spurs just about got there in the end and now find themselves one point behind West Ham with three games in hand.

The Lilywhites can even leapfrog Chelsea in third and create a four-point advantage over their rivals providing they win their four games in hand over Thomas Tuchel's men.

As important as a win at the King Power Stadium was to give everyone a boost after such a tough month, winning so late on in such dramatic circumstances really can work wonders for Conte and his players over the remaining months.

Maybe not as good as that famous comeback in Amsterdam in May 2019, it was a close second and indeed the closest Tottenham fans have come to even recreating that feeling almost three years on.

Bergwijn's heroics will live long in the memory of all Tottenham fans following a truly wonderful night in Leicester.
