The on-demand streaming provider Prime Video has announced that Jeff Stelling will be making a comeback to television in a presenting capacity as the anchor of the Every Game, Every Goal programme.
After over 30 years as the anchor of Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday show, the 68-year-old stepped down in May. Now, he is a part of Prime Video's broadcast crew for 20 live and exclusive Premier League matches next week, as well as on December 26 and 28.
Currently hosting 5 News, Dan Walker, formerly of BBC Breakfast and Football Focus, will also serve as host for a few of Prime Video's upcoming programmes, which will include two rounds of Premier League games.
But why did Stelling leave Sky Sports and when will Every Game, Every Goal air?
What happened to Jeff Stelling?
Stelling departed from Soccer Saturday in May of this year. He was employed by Sky since 1992 and has served as Football Saturday's face for 25 years.
"I've been at Sky for more than 30 years and loved every moment of my time as part of the Soccer Saturday team," Stelling told Sky Sports, back in April.
"It is now the right time to move on and give Sky Sports viewers a break from my relentless rants, bad gags and over-the-top celebrations of Hartlepool United goals. It's been a lot of fun - for me at least!"
Stelling, a well-known Hartlepool United supporter, did state he was not retiring even if his time at Sky Sports had come to an end.
When is Every Game Every Goal on Prime Video?
According to Prime Video, Every Game, Every Goal will be released on December 6.
The program will share “all the goals and key moments from every game as soon as they go in across all six of the evening’s fixtures, including Sheffield United v Liverpool, Aston Villa v Manchester City and Manchester United v Chelsea".
The streaming platform added: "In addition, Dan Walker will make his presenting debut on live Premier League football for the very first time across a number of Prime Video matches in December, including Wolves v Burnley, Spurs v West Ham and Burnley v Liverpool.”
Prime Video also revealed Gabby Logan, Ally McCoist, Jon Champion, Clive Tyldesley, Robyn Cowen, Jim Rosenthal, and Guy Mowbray would all be making a comeback as the show's presenters and commentators.
