It just wasn't meant to be for Diego Costa upon his Chelsea return.
The 34-year-old had once returned to Stamford Bridge for Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, but Diego Simeone had decided not to utilise the Spanish international on that occasion.
Fast forward to now and Wolves, who were managerless after the sacking of Bruno Lage, was the opportunity for Costa to finally play in front of fans who adored the former Blues striker during his days in SW6.
Ahead of the fixture, Graham Potter, who spoke in positive terms about the former Atletico man, was sent a 'hot blood' warning ahead of this clash. Whatever that prediction was didn't transpire on the pitch.

Kalidou Koulibaly and Trevoh Chalobah did a job on the former Blues number 19, to the point whereby at one stage during the first 45 minutes, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga had more touches in comparison to the free agent.
Into the second half and 12 minutes in, interim managers Steve Davis and James Collins decided to make a change with Hwang Hee-Chan coming on at the expense of Costa.
It was a question posed Potter's way during his pre-match press conference on Friday, but Chelsea supporters answered that point emphatically with the raucous and positive reception sent his way.
The player in question hugged the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Jorginho upon making his exit from the field. After, he waved at the home fans as a gesture of gratitude.
Now that this big occasion is over, Chelsea supporters will hope their former hero can start once again scoring goals for a Wolves side that will have a new manager very soon. The Stamford Bridge faithful did remind the away contingent that 'Diego Costa, he's won more than you!'
