What Gary Lineker said about Kai Havertz's Chelsea goal vs RB Salzburg in Champions League

Former Premier League striker Gary Lineker applauded Kai Havertz for his strike in Chelsea's 2-1 Champions League win over RB Salzburg.

The German forward repaid Graham Potter for restoring him back into the Blues' starting line-up when he struck a sensational strike past Philipp Kohn shortly after the hour mark. Havertz was left on the bench for the weekend's 1-1 draw with Manchester United after a difficult evening against Brentford prior.

His goal put Chelsea back ahead after Chukwubuike Adamu had cancelled out Mateo Kovacic's opener in the first half. Potter's side went on to win the game to confirm their ticket to the knockout round of the tournament after picking up three successive wins.

A draw in the game between AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb would confirm Chelsea as group winners with a game to spare. They welcome Dinamo Zagreb to west London next Wednesday seeking revenge for the 1-0 defeat that cost Thomas Tuchel his job.

Havertz's third goal of the season warranted praise on social media and Lineker took to his personal Twitter page to applaud the 23-year-old. He said: "Gorgeous goal from @kaihavertz29."
