What Everton fans just did 15 minutes after final whistle at Leicester speaks volumes

Finally, they did it. Everton have won a Premier League game away from home.

It doesn't bear thinking about just how long it took for the Blues to finally achieve this feat. It's been a ridiculous and, quite frankly, embarrassing wait to finally be able to celebrate three points on the road.

There have been so many low points in that time as well. Defeat to Norwich City, a humbling at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur - and that's just to name a couple.

But, finally, "celebrate" those travelling fans absolutely did. This was their reward for all of their time, energy and money they have poured into following their side through thick and thin even through the most difficult of campaigns.

This has been a truly heart-wrenching season for those supporters. Nobody ever wants to see the club they love in such difficulty for a sustained period of time.

But they are absolutely determined to do everything they can to drag their side back up again. Whatever it takes.

The scenes outside Finch Farm on Saturday afternoon when the coach was preparing to leave Merseyside set the benchmark. The whole street was full of Evertonians eager to show their support for the side.

Frank Lampard has been about to tap in to the perfect attitude recently and work those fans up into something of a frenzy. And that was on full display at the King Power Stadium.

This away end was something different. Even 15 minutes after the full time whistle had blown, there were still thousands stood in the stands loudly belting out their chants.

Throughout the final five or ten minutes of the first half, the only thing you could hear around the stadium was the constant chant of "Spirit Of The Blues" coming from the thousands that had travelled from Merseyside. It was a truly mesmerising experience inside the ground to be a part of, never mind what it would have been like right in the middle of everyone.

The outpouring of emotion in the closing stages when Richarlison and then Salomon Rondon won clever fouls to wind the clock down were indicative of a side that has waited so long for a result like this. Ian Snodin, who was on the club's commentary team, couldn't contain his wild cheers as the final whistle blew.

It's been a while since the mood around the club has felt this good, which is very powerful when you consider the situation the Blues still find themselves in. Their first away win since the end of August has pulled them out of the relegation zone as things stand, but the job is certainly not done yet.

However, it hardly seems to matter to the fans right now. They are pulling together in the best of ways and they are shouting their side to strong results - with the players responding in kind with so many of them standing up to be counted in the most important of fights.

Those chants from the away end were Everton. That battling performance and a crucial three points was Everton.

It's been far too long since they were able to celebrate an away win, but if they can repeat the feat in another couple of days against Watford then suddenly their tricky situation looks a lot more sunny.
