Emerson said he prayed VAR would give Tomas Soucek's goal against Chelsea. West Ham United drew 1-1 against the Blues, with Joao Felix opening the scoring only for the Italian to score his first goal for the Hammers against his former club.
With the scores tied, Soucek thought he had given his side the lead only for VAR to intervene and disallow the goal for offside. Speaking after the final whistle, Emerson said he was okay with decision but had hoped for a different outcome.

"I pray for the VAR, but it’s okay," Emerson told BT Sport. "It was a tough game, they played very well, we suffered a lot and ran a lot but in the end it’s an important point against a big team, we need to keep in this way."
Emerson left Stamford Bridge for the London Stadium during last summer's transfer window and was seen chatting to his former team-mates at the end of the match.
Explaining his interactions with Chelsea players, Emerson said that he is still friends with the west London stars before adding that he couldn't describe what it was like to find the back of the net.
"Yes, we are friends, no?" he added. "It’s just football, it’s just 90 minutes, but without football we are friends. It’s always good to see them, I’m happy for the goal as well, I don’t know how I can explain the sensation, it’s so, so good to score."
