Wirral Council has said there will be no organised firework displays in the borough this year.
The announcement came just two days after Liverpool City Council confirmed there will be no waterfront firework display as part of this year's River of Light celebrations. Bonfire Night is fast approaching and with few public displays to attend, this November 5 could see more people organising displays at home.
But while many people enjoy the bangs and bright lights from fireworks, for others this time of year can be particularly distressing. Pets and wild animals are also affected, with some pet owners sharing upsetting videos on social media of their dogs cowering and shaking in fear.

Public displays are not just a great way for people to come together to watch the fireworks, they're also the safest way to enjoy the pyrotechnics. Organised events also mean less people buy fireworks of their own, so there is less noise and distress caused.
But with increasing pressure on council budgets, it's hard to justify the cost of these large firework shows when money is badly needed elsewhere.
