What Dele did to the Arsenal fans as Lacazette waves goodbye: 3 moments missed vs Everton

Arsenal's 5-1 victory over Everton sadly proved too little too late in their bid for Champions League qualification. The Gunners went into the game knowing that a win could secure them Champions League football if Spurs were also to lose against Norwich at Carrow Road. Sadly though as Tottenham took an early lead through Dejan Kulusevski it became clear that wasn't going to happen.

That didn't stop Arsenal from putting in a dominant performance over a very poor Toffees side. They dominated from the off and were deservedly in front when Gabriel Martinelli scored a penalty given by VAR after an Alex Iwobi handball. Eddie Nketiah doubled the lead soon after, poking home a flick on from a corner, but Everton somehow found themselves in the game going into the break as Donny van de Beek tapped home with the last kick of the first half.

The Gunners resumed the second half like they had begun the first though and when Cedric turned home a smart finish from a corner into the roof of the net the game was more or less done. Gabriel then went on to add a fourth almost straight after, and there was time still for Martin Odegaard to slot home. In truth Arsenal could have had many more, so disinterested was the nature of Everton's display.

Sadly though it was not enough to secure a top four finish as Spurs' 5-0 win at Norwich means they will be playing Champions League football next season. As always to end off the campaign there was an emotional lap of appreciation at the end. Here are some of the moments football.london spotted that you may have missed from this afternoon at the Emirates.

Dele reacts to Arsenal fans

It was never going to be a pleasant return to north London for Dele Alli given his history with Tottenham. The England international had a tough time getting in a scrap that led to the corner in the build up to Eddie Nketiah's door.

That prompted relentless booing from the Arsenal fans, and as Dele was withdrawn by Frank Lampard it got even more intense. The midfielder took it well though in fairness to him, applauding the Arsenal fans closest to him as he sat down on the bench.

Lacazette's farewell?

Going into the end of the season there was always going to be a bit of uncertainty over the future of Arsenal's strikers. Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette's contracts both expire this summer, and potentially both played their last games at the Emirates.

Nketiah capped the occasion with a man of the match display and poacher's finish, while Lacazette sadly could not replicate that coming off the bench. The Frenchman then began to participate in the lap of appreciation at the end and could be seen reaching his hand out to wave at the Arsenal fans, possibly in tears, while he held his daughter in his other arm. Potentially a last goodbye?

Martinelli says goodbye

It was a good end to the season for Gabriel Martinelli who managed to cap the game off with his first ever penalty in an Arsenal shirt. The Brazilian had been down to take the late one in the win at Stamford Bridge, but was usurped by Bukayo Saka on that night.

There was no stopping him this time though as he sent Asmir Begovic the wrong way. The Brazilian then ran over to the bench to celebrate with Gunners fitness coach Shad Forsythe. The American is leaving Arsenal this summer, and clearly made an impact on Martinelli.
