What Crystal Palace fan 'yelled' at Liverpool players warming down after game

The decision to award Liverpool a late penalty today has not gone down well with Crystal Palace fans.

Jurgen Klopp’s side claimed a 3-1 win over Palace in the Premier League clash at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.

Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored for the Reds in the first half, before Fabinho settled the contest from the spot after an earlier Odsonne Edouard tap-in.

Liverpool were awarded a penalty following a collision between Diogo Jota and Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

Initially, referee Kevin Friend waved away the penalty appeals from Jota - but then VAR intervened.

After being instructed to look at the pitchside monitor, Friend awarded a penalty which was converted by Fabinho.

The decision brought a loud ring of boos from Palace fans when the incident was shown on the big screen at Selhurst park after the decision was confirmed.

And it seems, even after the final whistle, one supporter made his feelings clear to Liverpool.

According to journalist Karl Matchett, who was in attendance at Selhurst Park, a Palace fan stayed behind after the match to deliver a message.

While some Liverpool players were taking part in their warm down on the pitch, Matchett says that the Palace supporter shouted: “never a penalty, ever,” in the direction of the Reds players.

And throughout the game, Palace fans were not happy with several other decisions made by Friend.

Some chants in the match could be heard, with one in particular saying “who's the Scouser in the black,” aimed at Friend in his black referee kit.
