What Cristiano Ronaldo has done to help Antony since his move to Manchester United

Manchester United winger Antony has admitted that Cristiano Ronaldo has helped him settle into life at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian, who scored for the third Premier League game running on Sunday evening, joined the Reds on transfer deadline day last month from Dutch heavyweights Ajax. He joined the club in a deal that could eventually be worth up to £85million, making him their second-most expensive addition of all time.

Antony, who worked with United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, has enjoyed an impressive start to life at Old Trafford, scoring in each of his first three league matches, including a derby day stunner against Manchester City, although it counted for very little in the grand scheme of the contest. He has looked right at home on the right-wing, quickly becoming a staple in Ten Hag's thinking.

Although he has not had many opportunities to rub shoulders with Ronaldo in the Premier League so far, given the Portuguese striker's recent struggles for regular minutes, he was at the very centre of the former Real Madrid man's celebration for the 700th club goal of his club career against Everton. And Antony has now lifted the lid on how big an impact Ronaldo has had on helping him feel at ease at United.

"Since I arrived here, Cristiano Ronaldo has really helped me feel at ease; he speaks to me a lot, on matchdays as well," Antony told United's club website.

"He always tells me to be calm and confident, he's achieved so much in football and I learn from him every day. I'm really grateful to have such an experienced person teaching us young players every day."

Ronaldo, despite not earning as many minutes as he would have necessarily liked so far this season, remains a respected figure within the United squad. His passion and mentality often stand out from the crowd and that is something that Antony is looking to learn from.

He added: "His mentality, it's so strong. He's very intelligent.

"This mentality of his, looking to the next day, everything still to play for, it's what I'm trying to take on board and keep for the rest of my life."
