What Cristiano Ronaldo did to help Karim Benzema at Real Madrid

Manchester United great Cristiano Ronaldo has been credited with helping Real Madrid star Karim Benzema's form.

The Frenchman has finally been uttered in the conversation of the best finishers in Europe as his goalscoring exploits continue. He single-handedly saw off Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last-16 and then scored four goals in the ties against Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea.

Ronaldo was one of the main aspects of the dynasty that Zinedine Zidane created at Real Madrid which saw the Portuguese international line up alongside Benzema as they claimed La Liga and European glory. But since the 37-year-old opted to move away from the Bernabeu to Juventus and then Old Trafford, he has been praised for his role in the Los Blancos forward's development.

"I think he learned a lot from Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Real Madrid," LaLiga ambassador Robert Pires, speaking on behalf of LiveScore, said: "And now he is not just a great striker, he is a strong leader with all the right leadership qualities.

"When Karim saw Ronaldo leave Real Madrid, he took on a lot of responsibility. He’s the captain, of course, and when you’re the captain of Real Madrid you have a lot of responsibility.

"But he wasn’t scared to take on that responsibility and since Cristiano Ronaldo left, Karim has got even better."

LaLiga ambassador Robert Pires was speaking at an event for LiveScore, Official Global Scoring Partner of LaLiga Santander. To read the full article, visit LiveScore’s News section here.
