Julian Nagelsmann is now out of work after Bayern Munich made the decision to sack the young German and appoint Thomas Tuchel. The decision made by Munich to part ways with Nagelsmann appears a baffling one as he has lost just three games in charge this season and recently oversaw a superb Champions League last-16 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Thursday evening before Bayern then confirmed the decision the following day with a club statement. It read: "FC Bayern and head coach Julian Nagelsmann have parted company. This decision was taken by CEO Oliver Kahn and board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić in consultation with club president Herbert Hainer. Nagelsmann will be succeeded by Thomas Tuchel."

Nagelsmann's fellow German Tuchel has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in September 2022 despite guiding the club to Champions League glory the previous year. The former Borussia Dortmund boss had been lined up as a possible replacement for Antonio Conte at Tottenham, but he now looks set to join the long list of people to represent both Bayern and Dortmund in Germany.
There is no guarantee that Nagelsmann wants to head straight back into work, but football.london understands that the young coach forged a real connection with the north London team during Mauricio Pochettino's tenure and became a big fan of their style of play under the Argentine.
The Daily Telegraph also report that Nagelsmann is now high up on the Conte replacement list with Tottenham set to seek talks. Chelsea are also involved in this major managerial development with Tuchel expected to try and poach staff and players from Chelsea.
Regarding Nagelsmann, had he been available at the peak of significant pressure being on Graham Potter, Todd Boehly could have tried to bring the 35-year-old to Stamford Bridge. However, Chelsea have since secured three major results and it could instead be London rivals Spurs who end up as the beneficiaries of Nagelsmann's availability.
Not only would the Blues have had a top European coach at the helm if Nagelsmann came in, but they would have also had the man who got the best out of their incoming summer signing. Chelsea have agreed a pre-contract deal for Christopher Nkunku with RB Leipzig, Nagelsmann's former employers, and the French attacker has previously spoken about both Nagelsmann and Tuchel.
"Thomas Tuchel used to ask a lot of me [at Paris Saint-Germain], but I didn't have enough time to do what he asked," Nkunku told German sports newspaper Bild of the former Chelsea boss during the peak of his rise in 2020.
"Julian Nagelsmann also expects a lot from me, and he's demanding about what I do in training and games. That's taken me further. He also talks a lot about tactics."
