What Chelsea star Kalidou Koulibaly did to Tottenham ace Harry Kane during England vs Senegal

England secured their place in the World Cup quarter-finals with a comfortable 3-0 win over Senegal.

Jordan Henderson was the unlikely man to open the scoring, coolly directing in the cutback from Jude Bellingham, who played a key role as England also scored with the final kick of the first half. The 19-year-old led a brilliant breakaway that ended with Phil Foden playing in Harry Kane, who slammed home his first goal in Qatar.

Bukayo Saka then joined Marcus Rashford – the man he replaced in the starting line-up on Sunday – on three goals at this World Cup and ended the contest when he delicately clipped the ball over Edouard Mendy early in the second half. The result sees England progress into the World Cup quarter-finals, with Gareth Southgate's side taking on France on Saturday.

"We’re all buzzing with the result, we’re going to celebrate tonight," Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden said after the game. "It’s knockout football now, we’re going to have to recover and think about our next opponent which is going to be really tough."

"Knockout games are never easy, we’ve shown great maturity through the tournament," Kane added. "3-0 against a really good side, credit to the boys, mentality was top and we took our chances when they come."

While it was a comfortable result in the end for the Three Lions, eagle-eyed Chelsea and Tottenham fans may have spotted something which happened between Koulibaly and Kane during the second half. The Spurs striker received the ball with his back to goal when the Chelsea centre-back clattered into him, leaving the 29-year-old on the floor.

It was a bad challenge by Koulibaly and the Chelsea man was awarded a yellow card. Thankfully for England fans Kane got up and seemed to be uninjured, which of course is good news ahead of England's quarter-final clash against France on Saturday.
