There was an atmosphere of uncertainty as Chelsea welcomed Newcastle to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The route to the ground saw more stewarding and checks than usual as it seemed to take longer for the local area to draw in supporter's pre-match.
The home and away fans were in fine voice once the match was underway with more than 40,000 in attendance in the stands for perhaps the last time this season.
It was a back and forth match with both sides showing plenty of defensive solidity and fight but unable to create many clear-cut chances.
It took right until the death for Jorginho to pick the ball up on the halfway line and to produce some magic with a raking ball onto the six yard box that found Kai Havertz who cooly dispatched past Martin Dubravka.
We take a look at some of the moments you might have missed below:
Mason Mount and Kieran Trippier
It's always fascinating to take in how the teams interact ahead of a game as they warm up or head to the tunnel.
In recent matches we've seen the likes of Jurgen Klopp stare intently at every Blues movement as they go through the drills but it's not uncommon to see friendly players greet other.
On this occasion Mason Mount found his way to the injured Kieran Trippier who had made the trip to London anyway.
The pair embraced, familiar from their successes in an England shirt.
Chelsea's advertising hoardings
Much has been made of Chelsea's sponsorship deals in recent days following Roman Abramovich's sanctions. Most notably Three and Hyundai deciding they wanted to suspend their deals with the Blues.
Chelsea still wore kit adorned in those brands against the Magpies with little other option at Stamford Bridge.
However, there was also a change in their advertising boards around the pitch as they intermittently showed Parimatch, one of Chelsea's official partners.
Their company was founded in Kyiv in 1994 and the company's name would flash on the boards followed by '#STANDWITHUKRAINE'.
What Antonio Rudiger did to anger Dan Burn
It's not a Chelsea match without Antonio Rudiger's antics and there was no shortage against Newcastle.
The German international produced some driving runs and some off the ball antics that just gives fans something to cheer.
In the first half we saw Rudiger square up to Jamaal Lascelles in the Blues' box after Dan Burn missed a good chance. Referee David Coote of course need to get in between with Burn not far away too.
Later in the opening period, Burn was down after a frim challenge from Havertz and being treated by Newcastle's medical staff. As Jorginho pleaded with Coote and numerous Newcastle players that Havertz did not warrant the yellow card he received, Rudiger couldn't help but approach the situation.
The defender tapped Burn on the stomach, which of course meant when the former Brighton defender got to his feet, he started to approach the German. No sign of Rudiger backing down.
One of the more bizarre moments was seeing Rudiger watch the ball run back to Edouard Mendy, ushering it there as Chris Wood attempted to sprint at the ball. Out of nowhere, the German international produced some high knees, almost as if mocking the opposition's attempts to reach the ball.
Then of course, late on came his cunning. As Newcastle tried to get play back underway with a throw-in and having made subs in the 91st minute, Rudiger claimed the ball and avoided a flurry of players, Fabian Schar in particular, to just delay the game a bit longer.
Reaction to the goal
Safe to say everyone associated with the Blues loved it.
Tuchel found himself sprint down the touch line before firmly planting his feet to pump his arms. Jorginho was surrounded by the Blues backline to celebrate his exquisite pass, while Havertz bounded into the corner with Christian Pulisic to await the adoration from his teammates in the forward positions.
There were few more arm pumps from Tuchel at full time in his technical area before he joined his players on the field.
A very different picture from when Tuchel was getting into it with Eddie Howe's assistant Jason Tindall after Mason Mount was downed but punished for grabbing the ball afterwards.
