Celtic find themselves in the familiar position of having to win to restore their nine-point lead after rivals and nearest challengers Rangers again applied a little bit of pressure. Michael Beale's men have often played before the champions recently and the Hoops have responded. It's the same story again following Gers 2-1 win at home to Ross County and it’s a trip to Perth next up for the champions.
Ange Postecoglou’s men made light work of Livingston in midweek to maintain their nine point gap over Rangers at the top the table. They now travel to McDiarmid Park this weekend to take on Callum Davidson’s Saints, with Rangers hosting Ross County the previous day at Ibrox. The Hoops won 2-1 back in October the last time they were in the Fair City, and were 4-1 winners over the same opposition at home on Christmas Eve.
St Johnstone halted an alarming run of form with a 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday night. Prior to that, they had lost seven on the bounce, with their last win coming the week before that 4-1 loss at Celtic Park before Christmas. They endured a frustrating afternoon in Glasgow last weekend, when referring decisions didn’t go their way in a defeat at Ibrox.
