What Casemiro and Fred did with Manchester United fans after Marcus Rashford goal

Manchester United fans have been dishing out praise to Casemiro after his incredible reaction to Marcus Rashford's winner against Manchester City.

The Reds were held in the first 45 by City who had the lion's share of possession but no real clear-cut opportunities to speak of. Bruno Fernandes went closest for United but his effort was dragged wide of Ederson's far post.

Pep Guardiola's team came out for the second half in a better mindset and took the lead on the hour mark when substitute Jack Grealish nodded the ball home from close range. United needed to dig deep and 18 minutes later they were level.

A through ball from the Brazilian midfielder was latched onto by Fernandes who tucked the ball home. City players argued that Marcus Rashford was interfering with play from an offside position but the goal stood.

United's tails were up and they bagged the winner while the Blues were still reeling. Alejandro Garnacho's smart cross picked out Rashford who tapped the ball in.

Wild scenes erupted inside Old Trafford as the United players and fans celebrated the turnaround. One player who particularly enjoyed the winning goal was former Real Madrid man Casemiro.

Fan footage from the Theatre of Dreams shows the 30-year-old screaming wildly in celebration before embracing some young United supporters in the front row. His passion was not lost with Reds supporters on Twitter who praised their summer recruit. Other footage that can be found on social media shows Fred also hugging fans.

This is not the first time that Casemiro has shown how much goals for United mean to him. After equalising at the death against Chelsea, the central midfielder was filmed bellowing and pumping his chest in celebration.

The result on Saturday lunchtime means that United are now just a point behind City. Erik ten Hag's team moved up to third in the table ahead of Newcastle who play on Sunday against Fulham.
