What available dates are there for Premier League fixtures postponed due to Queen's death

The Premier League has announced that this weekend’s top flight fixtures have been postponed as a mark of respect to honour the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II after her death.

Following a meeting on Friday morning., all 10 fixtures that were due to go ahead this weekend, including Monday evening’s game between Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, will now be rescheduled.

With the hectic schedule already taking up most weeks until the World Cup in November, a date is yet to be confirmed for games to be re-arranged but options are scarce with few gaps on the calendar.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the possible dates for when this weekend’s Premier League fixtures can be rescheduled for.

Which fixtures have been postponed?

Bournemouth vs Brighton, 3pm (Saturday)

Southampton vs Brentford, 3pm (Saturday)

When do you think this weekend's Premier League fixtures should be played? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

When is the next free midweek for games to be played?

Due to the World Cup taking place between November-December, every available midweek slot over the next two months has been filled in order to fulfil a number of Premier League, Champions League group stage and Carabao Cup third round fixtures.

The international break at the end of this month has also narrowed down proceedings for clubs in Europe, meaning that the next free midweek slot for Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Tottenham and West Ham is w/c January 16, 2023.

However, for clubs not competing in Europe who aren’t playing one of those seven clubs, there are a number of dates over the next two months that they can fulfil this weekend’s postponed fixtures.

What dates are available next year?

For clubs who have no midweek European duties this season, the dates available for them to be able to rearrange this weekend’s postponed fixtures are w/c October 3, October 10, October 24, October 31 and November 7, should they not be in Carabao Cup round three action on that final week.

That means that Bournemouth vs Brighton, Southampton vs Brentford, Leicester vs Aston Villa and Leeds vs Nottingham Forest could be rescheduled in any of five midweek slots before the World Cup.

As for Fulham vs Chelsea, Liverpool vs Wolves, Man City vs Tottenham, Arsenal vs Everton, West Ham vs Newcastle and Crystal Palace vs Man United, these fixtures will likely have to wait until the new year to find a new date on which to play, with the earliest being w/c January 16, 2023.
