What Arsenal are willing to do to ensure William Saliba signs new long-term contract

Arsenal are willing to offer William Saliba a pay rise in order to tie him down to a long-term contract at the Emirates, according to the latest reports.

With two goals from centre-back so far this season, as well as three clean sheets and top spot in the Premier League to boot, the Frenchman was deservedly called-up to Didier Deschamps' national side for the country's UEFA Nations League clashes with Austria and Denmark.

As many know, his Arsenal career hasn't always been plain sailing, though. After three loans in as many years, there was uncertainty over whether he was truly a part of Edu and Mikel Arteta's long-term project. With that doubt in the air, many questioned Arteta's decision to keep the now 21-year-old out on loan when seemingly inferior players were being used by the Spaniard back in England.

Nevertheless, doubt has since wavered, and Saliba has admitted that he feels 'at home' in north London. "Yes, for sure," he told Sky Sports, when asked if he feels at home. "I'm at home here. I like London, I like the club, I like everything. I feel at home here."

Arsenal are keen to renew his contract that presently runs out in 2024. Edu and Co. would like to tie him down to a new long-term deal, and in order to do so, journalist Paul Brown thinks they will offer him a pay rise.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “I think from Arsenal’s point of view, they do know there is interest in him, and they would like to make sure that he’s tied down for the longer term if only to protect their investment.

"I can’t see Arsenal suddenly turning around and selling Saliba, but I do think that they want him on a longer contract, and they’re willing to give him a pay rise to do that.”

If Arsenal can get Saliba to agree on new terms, supporters will be overjoyed. The Frenchman looks the real deal and could be a major part of the club's future success.
