What are the Bears’ biggest needs heading into the 2022 NFL draft?

As the Chicago Bears kick off their offseason program, it’s clear there’s still plenty of work for general manager Ryan Poles to do with this roster.

Poles has made some solid additions in free agency, including Justin Jones, Lucas Patrick, Byron Pringle, Nicholas Morrow and Al-Quadin Muhammad. But there are still some glaring needs on this roster heading into the 2022 NFL draft.

The good news is there’s still plenty of time for Poles to add to this roster. The bad news is he only has six draft picks to work with following the Ryan Pace regime.

The Bears have a slew of needs heading into the draft — and plenty of holes to address. But what are Chicago’s biggest concerns? For NFL.com’s Dan Parr, it’s offensive line, cornerback and wide receiver. Not exactly a surprise.

GM Ryan Poles’ rebuild is just beginning. The primary focus in 2022 should be on setting up Justin Fields for improvement in Year 2 and tightening up the back end of the defense.

Justin Fields’ development remains a top priority, which is exactly why Poles needs to add to the offensive line and wide receiver positions. The Bears added some depth options at wideout in Pringle and Equanimeous St. Brown while adding a starting center in Patrick and depth in offensive lineman Dakota Dozier.

But there are also other needs on the defensive side of the ball, including a starting cornerback opposite Jaylon Johnson and safety opposite Eddie Jackson, as well as at linebacker alongside Roquan Smith.
