What are The Apprentice finalists' businesses?

After taking on weeks of challenges from Lord Sugar, only Harpreet Kaur and Kathryn Burn remain as contestants on this year's The Apprentice, but what do they do?

This year, the pair faced off against 14 other hopeful entrepreneurs in the hopes of bagging a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar. Throughout series 16, Kathryn and Harpreet consistently found themselves on the winning team, in challenges ranging from creating baby food to organising luxury cruise ship vacations.

With only the finale left, Lord Sugar is giving them their biggest challenge yet. Over an intensive three-day challenge they must create a new brand for their company, produce a digital billboard and direct and edit a television advertisement. Then they must pitch to Lord Sugar and a room full of industry experts.

Last week, four was cut down to two in the rigorous interview stage where the semi-finalists had to produce a business plan for some of Lord Sugar's aides. This was our first real look into Kathryn and Harpreet's businesses and while we saw the good and the bad, there is still a lot to be explained.

Hailing from West Yorkshire, Harpreet Kaur is the owner of two dessert parlours, Barni's Desserts. For the last five years, the 30-year-old has transformed her coffee and cake shops into a six-figure business and hopes Lord Sugar's investment will help her "level up".

Running into a spot of bother during the interview stage, Harpreet revealed her sister owns 50% of the business. Lord Sugar was worried about who was running the business as only Harpreet appeared on the show but she insisted she's a hard worker. In an Instagram post revealing her sister, she said: "We run the business together. She works with me on all of the growth plans. We love sitting down over a coffee and making plans for the future of our business."

Joining Harpreet in the final is Kathryne Burn and her online pyjama business. The site allows people to buy full matching sets for the whole family, including your dog.

My Christmas Pyjamas launched in 2018 and in February 2022, Kathryn set up the site My Everyday Pyjamas, running both simultaneously. Designing everything herself, the 29-year-old hopes the investment will give her the boost her business needs to take on the global market.

The final of The Apprentice airs Thursday 24 March at 9pm on BBC One.
