What Antonio Conte has done to reward Tottenham players after Champions League progression

Antonio Conte has rewarded Tottenham players with two days off after late heroics ensured that they progressed through to the Champions League's Round of 16 as Group D winners.

Spurs had gone a goal down after Chancel Mbemba Mangulu opened the scoring just before half-time. Clement Lenglet's header levelled proceedings in the 54th minute but the game was nervy for the Lilywhites thereafter.

Former Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac had the opportunity to break Spurs' hearts prior to injury time but he headed wide at the back post. Harry Kane then played Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg through in the 95th minute of the game and the Dane made no mistake with his right-footed strike as he ensured victory in France.

Tottenham now have a few days rest ahead of what promises to be a difficult Premier League encounter with Liverpool on Sunday. In preparation for the game, Conte - who was forced to watch the Marseille clash from the stands as a result of a one-match UEFA suspension - has given his players two days off to help aid with their recovery.

Son Heung-min was forced to withdraw in the first-half against Marseille with a head injury and is a doubt for the weekend. Speaking after the game, assistant coach Cristian Stellini confirmed that the club aren't 100% sure about the extent of his injury just yet.

Stellini said: "In this moment, we don't know. We have to wait for a medical assessment, and we have to wait until tomorrow [Wednesday]. Sonny feels better now. I saw him in the dressing room. He celebrated with us. So we will wait for tomorrow."

He then also confirmed that the doctors are unsure as to whether it is concussion at this stage: "We are not sure." He added: "It is his face. His eye is a bit swollen."

Cristian Romero is also a doubt, whilst Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are expected to be absent once again. A couple of days rest for Son and Romero should help moving forward but Liverpool may come too soon.
